In 1988, the AIDS Emergency Fund began a great little fund-raising project called "Every Penny Counts."  Big glass jars with a slot on top were placed in all the popular gay bars and clubs in the city urging people to throw in their loose change after making a purchase.  The fund raised lots of money for their cash grants for needy people with AIDS.  We always loved to help them.

            Sharon McNight again would sing on our float in the Gay Parade and this year she had a swinging version of “Pennies From Heaven.”  We set about building a giant, moving stage of Buzby Berkeley golden pennies for Sharon to ride.
