On July 25, I wrote:
And it’s Gay Week around the world again. How about that 3.5
million (!) people at the gay march in Sao Paulo, Brazil? And, yes,
here in Oaxaca we’re doing our bit. A newly-formed collective, Arco
Iris, staged a number of nice events and they got the actress Jesusa
Rodríguez (SEE "Encyclopedia of Images") to come and be in the
Sexual Diversity Forum (!). Meanwhile, some friends and I painted
a bunch of street posters that attracted a good little bit of
attention.
I got the inspiration from a few graphics in my “gay” collection, of
course, and went to work.

Some forty posters were pasted into the historic, wrought-iron
frames around town. They’re called “carteleras” and we always try
to keep them nice and neat.

Jesusa liked the posters a lot and said right away "I'll help!"
So she went out with some kids and a bucket of paste and we were
happy to take her picture.

The image was also adapted for the group's "book mark" invitation to
the main event.

During the Forum on the final night, a banner of the two images hung
above the speakers. As Maria has always said, You do the
scenery, Bill.
