In 2005, the (some think) good-looking, young president of the Mexican Green Party (discredited around the world by established ecologists), and son of perenial presidential candidate/owner of the enormous generic pharmacy, Farmacias Similares, Victor Gonzalez Torres, was one Jorge Emilio Gonzalez. He was caught on video offering bribes of some two million dollars to Yucatan state officials to by-pass ecological laws to sell sensitive beachfront properties to rich U.S. developers. At the time, he was pilloried in the press and appeared at several tearful press conferences. He remains head of the party today and a close ally of the PRI and Felipe Calderon.
I decided to title my tribute "Tarzan of the Babies."
