BEUYS, JOSEPH
German artist, born in
Krefeld, 1921 - 1986
One of my favorite artists is the enigmatic Joseph Bueys. He was a
perfomrance artist and conceptual artist before anyone heard those terms.
He called his art "action." There are very few photographs of him
or his works still around but I have managed to collect a few.
Below, "Ray illuminating a
deer," 1958, here recreated in 1985.
Below, "Horns," African rhinoceros horns, metal,
plastic hoses, 1961.
Below, a live "performance" at the New Arts Festival,
1964.

Rudel" (1969) in Stockholm, 1971.
