Cuban singer, "the Queen of Salsa," 1924 - 2003

            Celia Cruz has long been one of my favorite personalities and I clip out her pictures when ever I see them.  You'll see why!

            When she died in 2003, tributes came in from around the world.  LA JORNADA gave her a big send off.

            When I was selecting the fotos for this page, I came across this clipping from the mid-eighties.  Celia Cruz was one of the first voices to call upon the mass media "to educate and inform" the public about AIDS.  Good work, Celia.
