Hi Bill,

Loved your new year's message.  My favorite part was the Orangutan - it's really quite sad.

Bill,

I was saddened and horrified to read your account of the events in Oaxaca and also very glad you had written it.  Today I read about the history of the Frente.  Again, feelings of horror, sadness ... and gladness that you have been there and have done what you did there.  I sat down to read over two hours ago.  Thank you for sending on this link.  I am just awed and amazed; blown away.  Don't know what to say.  Profound feeling, much support.

interesting that you put up the tlatelolco page.  i never knew about it until reading roberto bolaño.  he mentions it briefly in the savage detectives (the young narrator of the first part is a student at UNAM in 1975).  in an earlier book, amulet, written in 1999, published in english in 2006, he writes about a woman . . . "she is famous as the sole person who resists the army's invasion of the university campus:  she hides in a ladies room for 12 days."

. . . anyway . . . great page !!!  (depressing is right !)

HOLA BILL!!!

This online chronicle and compilation of your "life and times" over the past - dare I say - nearly 50 years!! as the wild and creative ”Bohemian” character that you are is for me absolutely priceless.
God help us if it’s true that life imitates art! (or is that vice versa?)
I’ve just spent the last two hours reviewing while laughing my head off!

Bill,

Every time I see your website, I always find something beautiful and interesting, so I know that is your hand at work.

I checked out your Pugilism section and found "Sin Guantes" at the end there, which should have been titled "Sin Ropa," methinks.  Ha!

I enjoyed looking at Karolyn's pages, with her doggie fashions, and all.

And the picture of you with your big Lucha Libre book ... can't get enough of those wrestlers.

I especially like your wax bin Laden 'pancakes' for the upcoming show.

Your site is becoming so full of fascinating images and ideas ... keep up the good work!

WILLIAM!

I love the Bill Wolf virtual museum show.  A Salute to the 70's redux!  A Box Lunch without the need to hire security guards.  A gay parade float without the hangover.

Voila!  It’s made my moment.  The summer of love rules!

Brilliant!  This is lean Beckett.  One scene short of a haiku (16/17). I keep going back to it each evening when the bell goes off.

Dear My Bill,

At LAST, you get to be the DIVA you've always wanted.  What could be more fitting!  And I love the gown... and the groan.  I can always count on you to make sure I'm not left literarily bereft.  And you know that there is no bleepin’ way I be sittin' through a two-hour monologue ... Yours is the quick and dirty.  Brilliant ... as always.

Hey thank you Bill,

Nothing like a bit of Beckett to cheer me up in the fading autumn light! But truly, a pretty hilarious version -- actually, I laughed, not a usual response to My Man B.  And like he said, "The task of the artist in our time is to accommodate the mess."
I assure you, you have.

Hi Bill!

I spent a long time on Sunday pouring over your beautiful website. Wow, it's really incredible.  I only scratched the surface. I'm really looking forward to spending more time on it.

The reason I got there in the first place is because my mom sent me the secret link to your newest creation: Happy Days.  I loved it!  It's beautiful. The photographs, the text that you chose, the sets, and costumes are all wonderful.  It really brought back memories of working with you.

I remember when we asked you if you could do the sets for Happy Days in 1985.  We didn't really know what we wanted or needed, we just wanted it to be great.  We all thought it was a huuuuge request that we were making of you.  I remember you said, sure!  Let's do it!  Before we knew it, it was done!  And it was incredible.  Better than anything I could have ever imagined.  I knew you were extremely talented going into that project but after that, I realized you are a visionary.

And there is a lot of evidence of that on your website.  It's wonderful.

Love,

Dear Bill:

You probably don't remember me, but I am a very old friend of Priscilla's (we attended Santa Barbara High together and have been close friends ever since) and now, sadly, her executor.   I saw Stephen today at Rooney's in Tiburon and he told me about your tribute to our never-to-be-forgotten friend.  It is wonderful!!  There will be a theater memorial to Priscilla Oct. 29; wish you could be with us.  All the best--and thank you for your incredible work,

Well hey there!

I was looking for some kind of reference on Google (as always) about the set design credits for the KRON show, "Buster and Me."  I guess I really just wanted to learn more about my father, Jeffrey Emmett Jensen, who worked on the set for that show.  I believe it was awhile ago.  I just remember fondly that I would be watching the show and once I saw my dad in the credits.  I think he really enjoyed that job.

Thanks again for your memories about all of this and for sharing them with others!

Bill,

I've been absolutely lost (in a good way ... mesmerized really) in your web-site for the past two hours!  I saw the Berlin and Prague sketches, and your Lucha Libre posters, etc.  I look forward to seeing more of the stuff your sister brought you recently!

Keep up the good work.

Hey Bill,
I was looking around in your Encyclopedia of Images this morning and was really enjoying the pictures on the walls of the city about the recent revolution ... and the pictures and story of Marcelino Coache (glad he was finally released from prison) ... and of Bob Dylan, too! Great work.

Bill,

Somehow I don't doubt that Astronette has jumped to the #1 spot this month, since I e-mailed to a bunch of people and they're probably all checking it out, along with the rest of your cool site.  I've been there several times, too, reading your story about the girl who got stuck in the drain and looking at the pictures of the walls between Mexico and the U.S., and reading Cindy Sheehan's resignation letter, and my favorite, the pic of you standing in your studio (?) with your head bowed down ... and of course, all the various pics of naked men who pop up from time to time.  ¡Ooh la la!

Hey Bill,
I decided to "glance" at your website and started reading your essays.  Two hours later I have finished the pieces on the strikes in Oaxaca and have just read the founding of the Frente and Coesida piece, ending with those magnificent candles on the night of the Day of the Dead.
Amazing - very impressed.

It's now almost 5 and I have read everything.  Loved it.  What a great afternoon I had.  Two questions: What happened to the final chapter of Felipe - it's not there?  May I please share some of your writings - particularly the Frente and the Juchitan......and the Felipe?

What a great site.  It took me a while to get to it, but I really enjoyed it. I loved seeing the books again.  I had told people about them, and now I can show them.
It's like "Queen for a Day", only it's "Bill for a Life".

Hey Bill,
I was perusing your Encyclopedia of Graphics. The photos of Dr. Bertha over the last 10 years say so much! Wow! and Rosario Ibarra, what giants these two are. And they are just doing what they do! It's great to have the photos through the years to see the continuity of their work, and to see that in their older years, they are still that person - only more so!
Love to you, Bill

Bill,
I have been having a ball going through your web site! The photos are a riot, many I haven't seen. The tableaux section is a particular fave. And the memoirs!  I need to slowly digest each section. It's amazing what one can accomplish in the absence of television.
My favorite section is the Books. Maybe because they are new to me, and so personal. I think your books have such power.
The Susan Sontag tribute is lovely. I once stood behind her on a buffet line at a party. I wanted to say something, but just couldn't.
The encyclopedia of Graphics has such a unique point of view, like the animals section, for instance.
Anyway, Bill, keep going. Can I tell others about the site?
Love to you,
Maria Manhattan

Hey, I went to your personal archives pages that you told me about and I've printed out a bunch of your writings ... I read all the stuff about the situation in Oaxaca and am about to start reading about 'those darned intrepides'. Can't wait! I hope your dreams come true in 2-0-0-7, Bill.

Bill,
Well, your up to meeting Billy King....
It was fun reading of your early days and Seattle arrival, for I really know
little about you, although I'm surprised I didn't run into you at the Greyhound Depot or peep shows, but then possibly I did, for those encounters in the dark with nameless body's were oh so fun, erotic and exciting.
I think the eternal flame has been extinguished... But not sure.
